Welcome to the VegCookbook Club! I’m so happy you’re here and am excited to cook with you. My name is Britt Bravo. I’m a blogger, podcaster, and blog coach for artists, writers, entrepreneurs and do-gooders. I’m also a big vision consultant who loves to help people find and express their calling.
I’ve been a vegetarian, a vegan, a macrobiotic, and a meat eater. Now I think of myself as 75% vegan, 20% vegetarian, and 5% PMS pepperoni pizza. Over the past couple years, I’ve reduced the amount of animal products I eat because I’m deeply disturbed by how industrial farming treats animals. Plus, ever since our cat, Dora, came to live with us, it has become more and more difficult to feel comfortable killing other animals.
I looooove to try new recipes from vegetarian and vegan cookbooks, and I’m hoping you do too. I created the VegCookbook Club for anyone who would like to eat less meat and animal products.
You can join for a variety of reasons:
• Environmental
• Animal rights
• Health
• For a creative cooking challenge
• To be part of a cooking community
• To have fun!
Check out the ♥love notes♥ from VegCookbook Club members, the VegNews article we were featured in, 3 Ways to Share Your Love of Veg Food, and my interview with Kimberly Wilson on the Tranquility du Jour podcast.
How to participate in the VegCookbookClub
• Each month, I select a vegetarian, or vegan cookbook for us to cook from together (feel free to send me suggestions!).
• On Meatless Mondays I post about recipes that I’ve tried from the cookbook, and share links to your blog posts, tweets and photos of the recipes you tried.
• You can share your experience VegCooking by:
- Writing about the recipes you tried in the comments of this blog. (What did you like? What didn’t you like? What changes did you make?).
- Asking a question in the comments of this blog (e.g. What the heck is nutritional yeast?).
- Sharing a link to a post from your own blog about the recipes you made this week in the comments of this blog.
- Posting photos of what you made on Instagram with the hashtag #vegcookbookclub
- Posting photos of what you made in the VegCookbook Flickr group.
- Tweeting about what you cooked with the hashtag #vegcookbookclub
I also try to pin all of our photos on Pinterest.
My hope is that the VegCookBook Club will:
• Be a fun and creative community
• Provide inspiration, support and motivation for us to eat less animal products
• Inspire us to cook more often for ourselves, our families, friends and communities
If you have any questions, or VegCookbook suggestions, feel free to email me at britt AT brittbravo DOT com, or connect with me on Twitter at @BBravo and @vegcookbookclub, or on Facebook.

I love it! As a new vegan (and fairly new vegetarian, for that matter) I was THRILLED to find this site! Thank you!
Hi Hollie!
I’m glad you found us (:
Britt
Just found you through VegNews this is great! Two cookbooks I have recently picked up have been Viva Vegan by Terry Hope Romero and The Sexy Vegan by Brian Patton. Both are great!
Hi Martha,
I have Viva Vegan also and pretty much everything I’ve tried from it was good. I don’t have The Sexy Vegan, but will have to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation!
Found you through VegKitchen on FB. This is a great idea! I love trying new recipes. One of my tricks is to borrow cookbooks from the library to try out before buying.
So excited to have found your site. I’ve been cooking through La Dolce Vegan all year and am ready to try some new recipes. I’ve got about 50 vegan cookbooks I need to try out!

I will take you up on your cooking challenge! Look forward to being part of it.
Wonderful! It will be fun to cook with you.
this is such an awesome resource!!! thanks britt for putting fun back into cooking in healthy, yummy ways!!!
Thanks, Heather! I hope you’ll cook with us this year (:
Do you post the actual recipes or only reference where they can be found ?
Hi Kelly!
I reference the recipes that I tried from the month’s VegCookbook, as do other VegCookbook members in their comments, tweets, photos and blog posts. I don’t have permission to reprint the recipes on my blog, although sometimes the authors have free recipes on their websites that I link to. The idea is that you have the VegCookbook of the month at home and are cooking from it too.
I’m so glad I found this site. I am excited about trying new recipes. I’m not totally vegan yet but that is my goal.
Hi Sandy!
I’m glad you’ll be joining us. You should jump right in with our January VegCookbook, Crazy Sexy Kitchen.
I really didn’t care for the brussel sprout salad I made either
check out http://valley-vegan.blogspot.com/ for pictures of the recipes from the vegan brunch
